Liquid Love was formed to create music for and celebrate Europride when it took place in Stockholm in 1998. The idea was to make sexy dance music for gay men who are more in tune with the masculinity in the gay community and wanted dance hits with male vocals instead of the traditional female divas. The success was instantaneous and their first album, Strictly Gay!, soon sold out. As the band members later split up there was still a fair amount of recorded unreleased music which became the foundation for the second album, The Backroom Beat. The composer, Manxson, previously wrote songs for Army of Lovers among other acts. He is now working on a solo career composing electronic music that vibrates to the rhythm of sex.
